OExperience at Guwahati :-

In course of rendering medical services to cross-sections of society as volunteers of Arogya Sandhan, we came in close contact with challenged children and their parents. We also came to know that parents of these children are suffering from loneliness in handling their children and deep anxiety of the future threat of life of their challenged children in their absence.
Whereas society has virtually done nothing in protecting the lives these challenged people in absence of their parents and society as a whole excepting the sufferers is not aware of the conditions and sufferings of these challenged people and their parents.
To instill and increase the level of awareness in society regarding this problems faced by challenged children and to create a support base for PASS for establishing HOME at Guwahati, Arogya Sandhan and Indian Bank Officers’ Club jointly in association with IBEU, PASS, Sishu Sarothi, NECHA, Autism Foundation organized a seminar titled “Future of disabled people in absence of their parents- role of our society” on 4th December 2005 at Sudmersen Hall of Cotton College, Guwahati.Arogya sandhan assisted and arranged assistance for  PASS( Parents Association of Sishu Sarothi) Guwahti, PASS got one Bigha land at Rehabari from the Govt. of Assam. Help was extended by various organizations and ultimately PASS started home at Guwahati with 6 challenged people as boarders and with periodic and fixed hours’ stay facility.

The above was a motivating development and encouraging experience for Arogya Sandhan. Emboldened and encouraged with this successful experience at Guwahti, Arogya Sandhan decided to establish such a HOME at West Bengal and thus   in its Governing Body meeting held on 14th April, 2007,a proposal for formation of AROGYA SANDHAN CHARITABLE TRUST with an aim to establish a HOME for development and protection of lives of disabled people was placed for discussion. The proposal was unanimously passed and the same was ratified in the Annual General Meeting of Arogya Sandhan Santoshpur held on 29th April 2007 and arranged an initial fund of Rs.20000.00 for the said purpose.

Thus Arogya Sandhan Charitable Trust was formed and the Trust Deed was registered on 6th November 2007 with provision of 61 Trustees and 25% of these trustees must be out of parents/guardians of challenged people.
