To install and arouse the level of awareness in society regarding this problems faced by challenged children and to create a support base for parents organizations (parents of challenged children), Arogya Sandhan and Indian Bank Officers’ Club jointly in association with IBEU, PASS, Sishu Sarothi, NECHA, Autism Foundation organized a seminar titled “Future of disabled people in absence of their parents- role of our society” on 4th December 2005 at Sudmersen Hall of Cotton College, Guwahati. Dr. Hiren Gohain, renowned intellectual of Assam, Mr. P.K. Pincha of Action Aid, Prof. Minati Borthakur of Cotton College, Mrs. Meera Kagti of Shishu Sarothi, Mrs. Janhabi Khaund, journalist, Ms Anju Talukdar Disability Law expert, Mr. Niranjan Biswas, Secretary of Arogya Sandhan and Indian Bank Officers’ Club, Mr. Sribas Dhar of PASS. Mr. S.K.Sinha, D.C.Karmrup who inaugurated the seminar assured us that there would not be any problem of getting land at Guwahati for HOME.A Book titled ‘Dream Home for Disabled People’ containing the details of laws, rights, privileges under various laws available to challenged people was published by Niranjan Biswas, Secretary, IBOC & Arogya Sandhan. The book was released by Mr. P.Nallasivam, DGM, Indian Bank. 

House concluded and it was resolved that establishment of HOME for the stay of challenged is the only solution and all sorts of help will be extended to “PASS” for establishment a Permanent Home for the challenged people at Guwahati. PASS got one Bigha Land at Rehabari from the Govt. of Assam. Help was extended by various organizations and ultimately PASS started home at Guwahati with 6 challenged people as boarders and with periodic and fixed hours’ stay facility.

Plan and Action for Creating Awareness 

Organized ‘Walk’ on 29 June, 2008

A large number of people from different walks of life participated in the Walk. Behala Bikashan, Noble Mission, Morning Glory, Green filed, Modern land Girls’ High School, Santoshpur Vidyamandir for Boys and Parashmoni Welfare Society participated in the programme. 25 disabled persons participated in the programme. 

 

All the participants were given on yellow color cap with our logo embossed on it. Many participants were holding placards depicting various slogan of awareness. It was a very colorful and purposeful programme. Walk started from SANTOSHPUR LAKE at 9.30 a.m on 29th June 2008 and continued through minibus stand, jora bridge and ended at Jadavpur Stadium. 

Arogya Sandhan Charitable Trust organized A SEMINAR at Jadavpur Kishore Bharati Stadium on 29th June 2008 .Topic of the discussion was : 

”Need and Management of Residential HOME for CHALLENGED PERSONS to protect their Lives” 

The Seminar was inaugurated by Sri Shyamal Sen, Ex-Governor of W.B. and Present chairman of Human Rights Commission,Sri Sujan Chakraborty,M.P.and Sri Jishu Dasgupta,Film Director, Dr. Apurba Ghosh, Professor & Director, ICH, Sri K.S. Adhikari, Asstt.Commissioner, Disability Commission, Sri Ajin Sen, Technical Director, Pariwar, Dr Arnab Sengupta of Atmapratya, Smt. Kaberi Sinha of Antaranga, Smt. Swapna Mukherjee,Principal,IICP,Smt. Leena Bardhan, Principal, Noble Mission participated in Seminar.Sri Subrata Dasgupta, our Vice President and Sri Shubhaprasad Nandi Majumder compared the programme successfully. Sri A.K.Jana, our president presided over the meeting. Seminar was followed by interactive session.
