Mental health problems are as common as heart disease and by mental illness here we mean psychiatric disorders and do not mean to include psychotic patients. Few symptoms, for example, are Changes of behavior - changed sleep pattern or appetite, feeling more energetic or more lethargic than normal, finding it difficult to get on with people. Extreme or quickly changing moods- for example , feeling energetic, creative or ‘high’; or feeling lethargic, depressed or ‘low’. Moods may alternate or one mood may dominate. recognized categories of anxiety disorders include specific phobia, Generalized anxiety disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Post-traumatic stress disorder. Some probable causes are difficult family background, suppressed feeling, stressful life events etc. Ms. Payel Biswas was born on 31.12.1985.She is the only child of Mr. Biman Biswas, and Mrs Nupur Biswas residing at Debapriya Apartment, Flat no.12, 370G, Mahindra Banerjee Road, Kolkata -700060.Her father is a bank officer and mother housewife and owing to the transferability of the service, her family is to move different places of Assam,Orissa, North Bengal in her early childhood.She was a fearful child from her infancy but she did quite well in her school exams. She developed stammering and double vision at one point of her childhood from which subsequently she recovered.However while studying in class VII in school at Kolkata, She was physically tortured by two of her class teachers which ultimately triggered a psychological disorder in her and gradually developed mood disorder OCD. She was taken to NIMHANS where she underwent intensive treatment for 10 months but result is not satisfactory. Over a period, she lost her concentration in studies and discontinued her studies while in class IX. She is proficient in English, Bengali and Hindi, also loves singing and enjoys movies. Her psychiatric symptoms are under control in medication. Her parents are worried about her future life- how her life will be physically protected and treatment will be continued in the absence of the parents and they do not have any close relatives to look after her. |
