WHY CHILD & MOTHER CARE HOSPITAL

UNICEF in its report “State of Asia-Pacific’s Children 2008” examined the latest trends in child and maternal health and said the region's robust economic growth had lifted millions out of poverty, but deepening disparities between the rich and the poor had meant that health care often failed to reach those at the very bottom. e have 2 million child deaths every year. Mortality in India is as high as 63 deaths per 1,000 live births. Most infant deaths occur in the first month of life; up to 47 per cent in the first week itself. More women in India die during pregnancy and childbirth than in any other country in the world, a number that accounts for 20 percent of the world’s maternal deaths.

Moreover, India's public health spending is among the lowest in the world at $4 a person per year, less than 1 percent of its gross domestic product. The United States spends about $2,000 a person, or almost 6 percent of gross domestic product.


AROGYA SANDHAN believes that the majority of these deaths can be prevented through awareness, care and treatment .With rich experience in organizing and running charitable dispensary for children and mothers,health camps, immunization camps,ASS Called Advisory Board Members of Arogya Sandhan and other experts in hospital management in a meeting on 16.02.2003 at IMA Hall, Jadavpur discussed at length and they suggested the Arogya Sandhan should establish Child and mother care hospital at it is the crying need of this locality.
