Arogya Sandhan, Santoshpur (a voluntary organisation,registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961 ) was established in the year 1998 by a socially dedicated, benevolent and philanthropic group of reputed personalities including a core team of doctors.

Objectives :-

o To promote social welfare through medical care

o To provide medical treatment to the helpless & poor people specially mother and child

o To extend emergency medical help to needy people of the society in general

o To collect medicines and build up a Medicine Bank for free distribution among the needy

o To encourage people for donation of blood, eyes and parts of the body and making    necessary arrangement for appropriate use of the same

o To arrange seminars, conferences,exhibitions,camps for creating health awareness

o To provide educational and other assistance to the poor and needy section of the    society

o To promote education and culture for the betterment of the society

o To run home for orphans and the aged people

To organize cultural programmes to enrich and develop the social and cultural heritage

Pledge :-

The income and properties of this organisation whatsoever achieved/obtained shall be applied solely towards the promotion of the above objectives and no portion thereof shall be paid to or divided amongst any of the members by way of profits

o 442 Medical Treatment Camps with free medicines and treated    more than 2 lakhs poor children and their family members

o 398 Immunization and Awareness Camps benefiting more than 1 Million people in remote    rural areas in the districts of Midnapur, Nadia, Burdwan, Malda, South & North    24-  Parganas of West Bengal, India.

o Free Pheco/Micro Surgery of eye for 1298 patients

o Free treatment with medicine offered through CHILD HEALTH CENTRE to 52889 children    and mothers

o Regular medical care of handicapped children of HELLEN KELER DEAF SCHOOL   (Mukundapur)

o Disbursement of regular monthly financial aid to thalassemic children for their blood   transfusion and treatment through “Debarya***(Joy) Dutta Memorial Fund”

o Creation of Blood Donors’ Bank for thalassemic children and other patients who need    fresh blood for their treatment.

o Scholarships have been instituted for meritorious but economically backward girls for    continuing their studies.

o Adoption of a tribal village “Sardar Para” at Uttar Garagachha,South 24-Parganas for    medical care

Management :-

o Managed by an elected Governing Body comprising of 11 members. All members offer    voluntary services and participate in day to day activities

Membership

There are three types of members
i) Associate Members ii) Honorary Members iii) General Members

Associate Members

o Associate Membership is open to all who want to pursue the objectives of the organization selflessly, actively

o Membership fee is Rs 200.00 per annum for Indians and US$ 10 per annum for others

o Associate life membership fee is Rs.5000.00 for Indians and US$ 250 for others

Honorary membership

Honorary membership is restricted to distinguished personalities in the sphere of medical science.

General Membership

General membership is offered to those who have been actively participating in Arogya Sandhan’s activities for a long time.
